Legacy’s Dawning is a TFE dirivitive that strives to reach new levels of sophistication. We are not limiting ourselves to the standard TFE offering, but instead focussing on bringing new content and gameplay for a TFE of the future. Among our current achievements, we have three new classes (sorceror’s, blade dancers, and druids) and a second continent full of areas to explore. We’re not stopping there, however, with plans already underway to rework all the old classes, make a more fluid combat and spell system, and add ‘nightmare’ content for level 80+ characters to give them another 100 levels or more of play. While far from our final destination, this is the beginning of a new era in mudding. The dawn of a legacy. - TFE Classic [closed]
TFE Classic is a clone whose objective is to remain ‘true’ to the vision of Greyclaw’s original design whilst progressing the game forward. They have a new class, several new areas, and some of the old players as immortals. As with all clones, there are differences, however people have found refuge here too. TFE Classic is one of the three main clones that I know of (Eternal Forest and Legacy’s Dawning being the other two). - aff.MUD [closed]
aff.MUD started out on a modified TRE codebase (so 120 levels, similar to TEF), and started doing some serious redeveloping (adding new races, classes, etc). They initially opened in the playtesting phase with things like 100d100 weapons for newbies. Now I think they’re more open to serious playing and these weapons have been phased out. Wouldn’t mind some updated info from the developers if they wanna email me 🙂 - Dynasty [closed]
Dynasty is a new mud in development, they’re building a whole new downtoned fantasy/faerie tale world, including a classless levelling system. Right now, they’re looking for builders – so if you’re that way inclined, why not drop by? 🙂 - Ideas of the Forest [closed]
Aerle has taken Sordith’s stable mud engine and started doing some neat stuff to it… “We’re planning on opening for play testing within a month and I’ll give you the details on what we’re going to be doing then. Should be a lot of different stuff including over 20 classes with a tier based (prerequisite) system as well as some classless skills. Still kicking some ideas around though and trying them out and will be trying them out as we playtest.” - The Forests’s Fury [closed]

Creslin says he’s “rewriting the whole thing” and “creating a whole new look TFE”. However I haven’t heard anything about it in over a year, so it’s probably been abandoned… please correct me if I’m wrong 🙂 - The Forest’s Heart [closed]
